Online Courses As part of an emerging effort to largest meet the needs of our constituency and expand wangle to our leading whet faculty, CTS offers courses online. Students do not need to be enrolled in a stratum program to take online courses. What’s more, CTS alumni/ae may inspect courses at a reduced rate.   Student At Large Student At Large Status allows you to take courses in an zone of interest at your own pace without the expectation to well-constructed the requirements of a stratum program. Students At Large may attain a Certificate of Theological Studies, if they successfully well-constructed six courses.   “J” Term Every January, between fall and spring semesters, you may enroll in one and two week intensive courses at CTS and many of the ACTS institutions. J-Term courses provide an opportunity to study coursework required by your denomination, or to learn well-nigh a focused topic presented by faculty.   RIOTcon The Raging Issues Of Today Conference (RIOTcon), hosted in the spring, by Chicago Theological Seminary, is quickly rhadamanthine one of the leading events for social justice. CTS invites activists, students, scholars, religious leaders, artists, and concerned polity members to engage in the RIOTcon. Join us for two dynamic days of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and breakout workshops.   RIOTconversations Raging issues of today protract all year long – and for that reason we schedule RIOTconversations throughout the year. CONNECTS and RIOTconversations present standing education workshops for CTS alumni/ae, students, and friends. The topics for the day-long workshops explore pressing issues of today – like women’s rights, and the current political climate.  YearlyLectures Chicago Theological Seminary hosts a number of public programs and lectures during the year. The C. Shelby Rooks Lecture held in the fall is named for the first African-American to serve as president of a predominately white theological school. The lecture launches a series of programs, unshut to the community, that invites individuals and communities, lay, clergy, and scholars to engage in religious and theological reflection on issues relevant to African-American faith, freedom, and justice. The Gilberto Castañeda Lecture held in the spring was established in 1994 in loving memory of Gilberto Castañeda, the “adopted” son of Dr. Theodore Jennings and Rev. Ronna Case, who at the age of 29, died of complications due to AIDS. This yearly event brings students, faculty, scholars, activists, faith communities and individuals together to engage in religious and theological reflection virtually LGBTQ issues, and is an expression of the seminary’s transferral to helping transform congregations from places of hostility and stoicalness to communities of hospitality and empowerment.  SenseBook Recommendations Find out what our sense is reading, writing, and assigning.
